Las Vegas hosts F1

The biggest and most prestigious motor sport is back in Las Vegas for the first time in 40 years. The competition will take place on 16-18 november 2023 and they plan to host F1 for the next 10 years according to the F1 website.

The cars will drive on the Strip, which is the Main Street in Las Vegas. The race is similar to the one run in Monaco where the city streets become the track itself. The cars will drive past Caesar's Palace, which was the name of the race the last time F1 visited the city in 1982.

The race in Vegas will be the third in the United States in 2023, which also includes Miami and the United States Grand Prix. In fact, this is the first time since 1982 that three races have taken place in the United States. The race in Vegas is the penultimate of the year and the week after goes the closing race of the season in Abu Dhabi.

Information about the city track and the race

The track itself will go through the streets of the city, passing many famous casinos and hotels. The track consists of 3 straights and 17 corners. The top speed at which the cars come up is estimated to be somewhere around 340 kilometers per hour. Two so-called DRS zones will also be on the track. The length of the track is 6,120 meters, and in total the cars will drive 305.88 kilometers.

The race will not get off during the day. Namely, it is a night race that will take place on Saturday evening instead of Sunday.

Long conflict

The race in Las Vegas has been marred by conflicts and disputes regarding the marketing rights and who would be allowed to stage the race. From the beginning, Farid Shidfar claimed that it was he who had a contract with Bernie Ecclestone to arrange the race and race weekend in Vegas.

However, this was not something Liberty Media agreed with. It eventually resolved itself where all parties were satisfied, but it took over four months. Now we can all look forward to a night race in Vegas for the next ten years.

Prices have no limit

Already a year before the race, ticket prices were at exorbitant levels and no limit is in sight. The most expensive package price in which six tickets are included cost over a million dollars. Regular tickets for standing room sold out immediately and cost around $ 500.

For those who wanted a proper seat, they had to cough up around $ 2,500 per ticket. However, it is a relatively small amount, unlike those fans who want access to the paddock where prices were at around $ 10,000. However, nothing is too crazy when it comes to Vegas where there are casinos and money in abundance.

If you are interested in seeing the race on location in Las Vegas, at the time of writing there are still tickets available, even if they are running out. You can also expect to pay around $ 2,000 for a ticket and even more if you are interested in a package price.

Weather in november

If you plan to go to Las Vegas and see the race, you should expect to have two different wardrobes with you. In the daytime you can enjoy really comfortable temperatures of between 18-22 degrees and sun and swimming. However, the evenings are a completely different matter where the temperature can go as low as down to only a couple of degrees, at the end of november. Therefore, make sure you have a warmer set of clothes with you because it is a night race.

Whatever you choose to do while you're there, don't miss the F1 Grand Prix in Las Vegas. As with so much else in Vegas, it's going to be something you'll remember for a long time.
